Young cricketers delighted with SVGCA Inc’s assistance

Two young cricketers, Jannillea Glasgow and Rayshorn Lewis, have expressed delight in being part of an initiative by the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association Inc.

The inititiave, which was made public last Thursday night at the association’s gala awards and dinner at the Players’ Pavilion of the Arnos Vale Playing Field, will see the two being the recipients of $400 per month. The payments will be from January to December, 2021.

Glasgow, one of this country’s brightest females prospects, was part of the SVG senior team this year and went on to be selected for the Windward Islands Under-19 outfit. She is also part of a 30-member West Indies training squad.

The talented Glasgow, who attends the SVG Community College and hails from Park Hill, is pleased that she is able to be assisted and thanked the SVGCA Inc. for the kind gesture. She says that she is eyeing a senior West Indies team call-up in the nearest possible time frame.

Meanwhile, Lewis, who is a resident of Troumaca, revealed that the assistance is timely.

He noted that it has been a struggle over the past two years for his mother to find transportation fee for him to travel from North Leeward to Kingstown and then to Arnos Vale to attend training sessions.

Lewis, a wicketkeeper-batsman, and a form five student of the Troumaca Secondary School, plans to advance in the sport, with the ultimate aim of representing the West Indies.
