Parsha champs Layou inter-village football
A 3-0 win on penalties over Texeira Road, landed Parsha the 2020 Layou Inter Village football title last Sunday at the Layou Playing Field.
This, after both teams had played to a 0-0 draw in regulation time.
For wining the competition, Parsha pocketed $1,500, while Texeira Road earned the second place prize money of $1,000. Plan, which placed third, collected $500.
Parsha, before meeting Texeira Road in the final, got past Jamrock, 3-1 in one semi-final, while Texeira Road ousted Plan 4-1 in the other.
Plan had an easy route to the third place, winning by default from Jamrock.
The other competing teams were Buccament, Layou Old Boys and South Leeward Old Boys.
One of the innovations of this year’s competition was the compulsory inclusion of a female player on each team and on the field at all times.
Additionally, penalty kicks decided all drawn matches, with a female mandated to take the first kick in the penalty shoot-out.
