Police Youth Club champs SVGCC basketball title

Invited team, the RSVG Police Youth Club, overcame the other guest team, SVG Medical Schools Combined 31-24, in the final of the QuickCash Corp SVG Community College (SVGCC) basketball competition, last Friday at the Arnos Vale Netball Complex.

The final score did not reflect the other three quarters, as the SVG Medical Schools Combined took the first quarter 11-2 and was ahead 15-13 at the half-way mark.

The scores were level at 17 each, when the third quarter ended, before RSVG Police Youth Club pulled away in the last quarter.

Maxian Dublin was the lead scorer for the victors with 12 points.

Prior to the final, BlueChip Academy edged out Year Two Arts, Science and General Studies, 28-27, in another humdinger.

Jonelson Compton had 10 points for the BlueChip Academy, while Donjay Peniston had a game high 11 points, for the losing outfit.

Maxian Dublin bucketed 12 points for the 2019 champions.

Rewarded were the MVPs of each of the competing teams.

The recipient for Year One Technical was Tristan Stowe, with Teachers Division MVP being Akeel Jack.

Ronaldo Franklyn of Year One Arts, Science and General Studies, copped his team’s award, with the Year Two Arts, Science and General Studies, recipient, Donjay Peniston.

Year Two Technical’s MVP was Leyhmar Campbell, BlueChip Academy, Kirsty Bailey and SVG Medical Schools, Ingrim Ittu.

Taking the MVP for RSVG Police Youth Club, was Maxian Dublin, who was also the MVP of the final.

And, the awardee of best defensive player was Carl Aye Obeneulo of the SVG Medical Schools Combined.
