Cyrus plays unbeaten in masters’ squash tournament

Paul Cyrus was the last man standing when the Closed Masters Squash Tournament ended last Friday evening at the National Squash Centre in Paul’s Avenue.

An 11-4, 11-6, 11-4, win over Colin Alexander in the final, confirmed Cyrus’ number one seeding.

Cyrus had to dig deep into his physical and mental reserve to overcome Dominic Ross in the semi-final, but won 4-11, 11-8, 7-11, 11-6, and finally 14-12, as the match seesawed.

A former Caribbean Association of Squash Association (CASA) junior champion, Cyrus had a stroll on the court, as he dispatched Ceron Padmore 11-6, 11-6, 11-5, in his opening salvo.

The other participating players were Keith Boyea, Nicholas Boyea, Grant Connell, Dr. Sherian Slater and Dr Perry De Freitas.

The Grand View Racquet Club also hosted some of the matches in the tournament.
