RSVG Police take Barrouallie softball cricket honours

The RSVG Police team beat Dr Thomas Injectors by 40 runs last week Sunday, to become the 2018 champions of the National Lotteries Authority Barrouallie 20/20 softball cricket competition.

Held at the competition’s venue, the Keartons Playing Field, RSVG Police batting first scored 98 all out from 19.5 overs.

The lawmen lead batsman was Malcovin Jack, who made 23, and Kenrick John chipped in with 21.

Bowling for Dr Thomas Injectors, Damion Allen had 3 for 12 and Wendell Corridon, 3 for 20.

In reply, Dr Thomas Injectors were dismissed for 58 in 16.1 overs. Peter Nanton was the topscorer with 15.

Player of the final Maxian Richardson took 3 for 6 and Kenroy Martin picked off 2 for 11.

Preceding the final was the third place play-off, which resulted in a win for Warriors over Surprisers by 18 runs.

Warriors posted 113 all out from their 20 overs, led by Kairmalie Williams’ 31 not out and Marcus Hackshaw’s 24.

Lex Hoyte took 2 for 11 and Neville Williams, 2 for 14, bowling for Surprisers, whose response stopped at 95 from their maximum 20 overs.

Calvert Cordice was Surprisers’ topscorer, making 27 and Moeth Gaymes added 17.

Kimarlie Williams was Warriors’ most successful bowler, taking 4 for 15 and Gersham Millington snared 3 for 21.

RSVG Police, for winning the competition, collected $1,500, while Dr Thomas Injectors pocketed $1,000 and Warriors, $500.
