St Joseph’s, Verbeke House take top positions in Rubis Ultra Tech powered sports meet
The annual joint sports meet of St Josephâs Convent Kingstown and St Martinâs Secondary School took place on Thursday, February 15, beginning with an impressive march past of all houses and ending with several outstanding races.
The Rubis Ultra Tech sponsored event was visited by country representative Elroy Edwards, who addressed the students, encouraging them to always strive for excellence. He admonished that the key that will unlock the door to their success is the will to win, the desire to succeed and a fervent urge to reach their full potential.
He also stated that Rubis is proud to support the St Josephâs Convent and the St Martinâs Secondary School sports meet, which gives students an opportunity to put their athleticism on show.
St Josephâs House (Green) topped the St Josephâs Convent meet with 799 points; Our Ladyâs House (Blue) were second with 717 points, followed by Blessed Ann Marie (Yellow) with 712 and St Vincentâs House (Red), 678. Aaliyah Welcome emerged as senior champ, Fayann John, intermediate champ and Gail-ann John captured the junior champ title.
Verbeke House (Red) of St Martinâs Secondary School took the top spot with 554 points, followed by Brother Roberts (Blue) with 527 points, Justin (Green), 503 and Tim Daisy (Yellow) with 434.
Andrew Mapp, of Brother Roberts House, toppled the records for 100, 200 and 400 metres juniors. The 4x100m and the 4x200m records were also broken. Junior champ went to Andrew Mapp, intermediate champ was Oswin Richards and senior champ, Truloni McKenzie.
