Sion Hill Netball Competition adds more years
The Vita Malt Sion Hill Netball Competition for 2017 boasts 16 teams, five more than those which contested the 2016 edition.
Ten of the registered teams were on parade last Sunday at the Sion Hill Playing Field hard court, during the formal opening ceremony.
Displaying an array of colours, it was Division One outfit Stars Girls One of Barrouallie that retained the Best Dressed Team award.
Taking the Best Banner award were Island Blends Success Radio Netters, while Phoebe Ferdinand, a member of the team, was identified as the youngest player in the competition.
Ferdinand will be recognized by the Sion Hill Sports Club when the competition closes off in December.
Meanwhile, at stake is a combined $600 for the Most Disciplined Team and Most Disciplined Player, with each getting $300 from Arnhim Eustace, parliamentary representative for East Kingstown.
Also, Glenford Prescott has in store $100 for the Most Disciplined Player on the Sion Hill team.
Sundayâs opening heard addresses from Eustace, president of the SVG Netball Association Doris Mc Intosh and Cleve Lewis, who read the message prepared by chair of the Sion Hill netball committee Sylvia Knights-Clarke.
A long-standing netball administrator in the Sion Hill community, Knights-Clarke was recognized by the Sion Hill Sports Club for her â25 years of serviceâ.
The 2017 Sion Hill Netball competition will see Yanja Young Strugglers defending the league and knockout titles in Division One, while Third World Man Shop Pacers, then KKFC Pacers, returned likewise as winners of the two titles in Division Two.
