System Three duo off to England
Two young promising footballers from the System Three Sports Academy were given the opportunity to be in England and train with the Chapeltown Football Youth Development Centre programme in Leeds.
The two, Cameron Williams, a Grade Six student of the Kingstown Preparatory School and Kevonte Clarke, a Grade Five student of the CW Prescod Primary School, left last Tuesday for their one-month stint.
They are accompanied on the trip by Keon Clarke, the father of Kevonte and are scheduled to return September 2.
Head of the academy and founder of the System Three set-up, Ian Sardine, speaking ahead of Williams and Clarkeâs departure, stated, âOur expectations are modest⦠We want the boys to first and foremost enjoy the experience⦠We want them to get a first-hand experience of football coaching and play games against professionally trained teams/players that they can come back and pass on to the others hereâ.
Sardine noted that the two prospects possess different preferences.
âBoth are attacking players. Kevonte likes to play just behind the strikers⦠He wants to always be on the ball⦠Cameron sits a little deeper as an attacking midfielder, but can play in a variety of positions,â Sardine noted.
Sardine expressed gratitude to all who assisted in making the boysâ trip possible.
He named the National Lotteries Authority, Subway, JG Agencies, St Vincent Motors, Digicel, The Vincentian newspaper, Banfield Gas Station, LOG Enterprises, SVG General Services and the SVG Football Federation as the major donors.
