Clare Valley top South Leeward Village Football Competition
Clare Valley ruled the 2017 ECGC/Hairoun South Leeward Village Football Competition on Sunday, defeating Lower Questelles 3-1 in the final, at the Campden Park Playing Field.
A hat-trick, from national player Tevin Slater, gave Clare Valley the title, coming from behind after another national player, Jarel Mc Master, had given Lower Questelles the lead.
Slater had blasted Clare Valley to the finals, with a brace versus Roucha Bay in the semi-finals.
Clare Valley ran out 2-1 winners. The goal for Roucha Bay was scored by Lenford Chance.
In the other semi-final, Lower Questelles defeated Vermont 5-4 on penalty kicks, after a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation time.
In regulation time, Javid John scored for Lower Questelles and Ethan Timm converted for Vermont.
At Sundayâs prizegiving ceremony, Slater was the MVP of the competition and the top goal scorer, with 12 goals.
Clare Valley also swept the individual awards.
Akeno Robin was voted best defender; Javid Lewis, best goalkeeper and Tevan De Grads, best midfielder.
