SVGCC track and field team competes in T&T
The St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College representative track team had a fair showing at the 2017 Abilene Wildcats Track Classic, which was held at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima, Trinidad and Tobago, Saturday, May 13.
The female team of Shantel Williams, Darria Matthias, Jasmine Robertson and Keiffer Bailey won the womenâs 4×100 metre event in a time of 49.83 seconds and were fourth in the 4x 400m.
Matthias came in second in the womenâs Under-18 100m, clocking 12.55 seconds. Bailey was also fourth in the womenâs 800m run.
Javiel Saxon, Yonick Murray and Godwyn Roban were 5th, 8th and 9th overall in the menâs Under-20 400m event. Saxon ran 49.90 seconds, Murray, 51.19 seconds and Roban, 51.49 seconds.
Hasheem Daniel was 19th in the menâs 400m open in 55.40 seconds. Raasikh John ended 20th overall in the menâs 100m race, timed at 11.25 seconds, while Omar Paul clocked 2 mins, 09.99 seconds to finish 21st overall in the menâs 800m.
Saxon, Murray, Roban, and Daniel placed 8th overall in the 4x400m menâs open in 3 mins, 22.21 seconds.
Saxon, Murray, John and Roban placed 6th overall in the 4×100 event in 43.05 seconds.
All events, except the womenâs and menâs 100 metres, were run as timed finals.
The athletes were accompanied by manager Roxell John and coach Michael Ollivierre.
