Netball returns to Cane End hard court
Competitive netball returns to the Cane End hard court, following over a decade of absence.
Undertaken by a committee headed by Yosiah Dasent, the competition opens tomorrow, September 17, at the facility located at the back of the Cane End Government School.{{more}}
Dasent said that the reason for having such a competition is to keep sports alive in the Marriaqua Valley, following closely on the heels of the Marriaqua Football League, which concluded August 28.
The chief organizer said that to date, eight teams have positively indicated their participation in the revived competition.
Confirmed are QUESCO Titans, Glenside Ball Blazers, Out Ah Trouble, Nar Fren Dem, Francis Combine, High Park, M-PESCO and Freeland.
Tomorrowâs opening commences at 4 p.m. with the usual formalities of remarks from sports, government and netball officials.
Following the formalities, a feature match will take place.
The commencement of the netball competition adds to the Richland Park Nine-A-Side Football Competition, which is also underway at the Richland Park Playing Field, also located in the Marriaqua Valley.
Also part of the Marriaqua sports programme are a netball competition staged at the Richland Park Government Schoolâs hard court and the Police Co-operative Credit Union Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Competition, both of which are staged in the first quarter of the year.
