Scoring problems hinder openers of national 20/20 cricket competition
Last weekendâs bowl off of the 2016 National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams Twenty/20 cricket competition incurred a barrage of inefficient scoring.
Reports are that some details were entered in the score books, while in at least one instance, scoring was done on a sheet of paper.{{more}}
The issue of scoring was highlighted as one of the factors hindering the national competitions when the current executive was officially installed in December 2014.
Then, the Kishore Shallow-led organization promised to address the matter.
A partial attempt was made in 2015, with the scoring on a tablet designed for that purpose.
But as this yearâs first competition opens, despite the insufficient gathering of the statistics, there was enough data to establish that there were wins for LIME Radcliffe, Police Two, Northern Stars, Guardian General Saints, iShallz Byam Physical Therapy and Carl Joseph Law Chambers ASCO on Sunday.
LIME Radcliffe crushed Victors Two by 118 runs at Arnos Vale Two.
Lindon James stroked 78, not out, to see Radcliffe to 181 for 3 in 18 overs. Victors Two were restricted to 63 in their 18.
At the Sion Hill Playing Field, Police Two stopped the News Spartans by 29 runs.
Donson Andrews â 40 and Salvan Browne â 36, helped Police Two to 126 for 5 in their 16 overs.
Spartansâ reply ended at 97 for 4 from their 16 overs; Nixon Mc Lean made 36, not out.
In an Arnos Vale Oneâs encounter, Victors One scored 72. Northern Stars made 21 for 4 in five overs, to win on a faster scoring rate.
Earlier in the day, Saints rushed to 126 for 5 from 12 overs, with Jerron John making 57.
French Verandah St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College scored 40 for 2 in six overs. Saints won on a faster scoring rate at Arnos Vale One.
At the same time, at Arnos Vale Two, iShallz Byam Physical Therapy took on Bequia Cricket Association.
Dean Browne stroked 44 in Bequiaâs total of 88 for 1 in 18 overs.
Rawdon Bentick cracked 61, in iShallz Byam Physical Therapyâs 89 for 1, to win by nine wickets.
And, at Sion Hill, Desron Maloney punched in 67, to lead ASCO to 141 for 5 in 12 overs.
In reply, Radcliffe Too made 59 for 6 in 12 overs.
All matches were affected by rain, which resulted in them being reduced.
The second round of matches takes place this Saturday and Sunday.(RT)
