SV United, Owia share honours in Grassroots Football Competition

SV United and Owia emerged Under-13 and Under-17 winners respectively of the National Lotteries Authority North East Grassroots Competition, which ended recently at the Diamonds Playing Field.{{more}}

Miles Abraham netted the lone goal, as SV United saw off Sparta FC in the Under-13 final, while Trezien Da Souza was the lone goal scorer in Owia’s triumph over SV United in the Under-17 showdown.

Shemmon Phillips of SV United and Owia’s Trezien Da Souza were named the respective division players of the final.

The best defender in the Under-13 was Sparta’s Resean Matthias, with his teammate Amron Thomas – the best defender.

SV United collected the other two awards in that division, as Miles Abraham scored the most goals and Germain Jarvis was voted the best goalkeeper.

In the Under-17 awards, the MVP of the tournament was Kadeem Duncan of Brownstown; Most goals – Lesjun Young, SV United; best midfielder – Terroson Joseph, SV United while the best defender was Sparta’s Jovanie Williams and most goals – Malcolm Da Breo, also of Sparta FC.

The competition was intended for the Chilli Playing Field, but had to be shifted to the Diamonds venue, because of restorative work being done there.(RT)
