Simple Boys going after more softball titles

After copping the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organizationâs competition for the third time in a row last Saturday, team manager Percy Morris told SEARCHLGHT that in their radar is the 2016 Barrouallie competition.
A confident Morris revealed that they intend to make their debut in that competition and add the title to the list.
At present, to go along with the TBPO title, Simple Boys are also the reigning champions of the Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers competition, the Biabou competition, the Lauders competition and the Greiggs competition, albeit under the name Top Shottaz Squady.
In completing the TBPO hat-trick last Saturday at the Dauphine Playing Field, Simple Boys romped to a 112-run win over Nice Radio Clinchers.
Simple Boys had racked up 179 for 4 from their 20 overs. Desron Maloney pumped 78, in which he struck 10 sixes and a solitary four. Stein Joseph hit four sixes and a pair of fours and Jabarri Cunningham â 30, as their top order flourished.
Maloney and Cunningham shared in a 77-run partnership for the first wicket, then Maloney and Joseph combined to score 99 for the second wicket.
But Clinchers were silenced in their reply, dismissed for 67 in 17 overs. Oheyon Toby top scored with 13.
Clinchersâ batting was upstaged by the bowling of Elric Morris â 4 for 15; Casmond Walters â 2 for 1 and Desron Maloney â 2 for 7.
It was the Simple Boysâ fourth consecutive appearance in the final, and the second year the outfit had played undefeated.
Simple Boys in the semi-finals, played the previous Sunday, outdid Stingers by seven wickets.
Stingers were dismissed for 96 for 8 in 20 overs, batting first. Bradley Richards top scored with 30.
Bowling for Simple Boys, Kentish Phillips took 3 for 7 and Travis Cumberbatch had 2 for 22.
Simple Boys, responded with 101 for 3 in just 8.5 overs, led by Jabarri Cunninghamâs 47 and Desron Maloneyâs 22. Bradley Richards crowned off a good all-round effort, taking 2 for 18.
In the other half of the semi-finals, also on that same day, Clinchers eked out a two-run win over Richmond Hill.
Clinchers batted first and made 92 all out in 17 overs; Kirton Lavia scored 34.
Brothers â Zenroy Lee, who took 3 for 20, Justin Lee, 2 for 8 and Collin Lee 2 for 19, shared the bowling spoils for Richmond Hill.
Zenroy Lee â 24 and Justin Lee â 21 were the main contributors for Richmond Hill with the bat, but their team fell short, dismissed for 90 in 20 overs.
Bowling for Clinchers, Kirton Lavia took 4 for 6 and Marlon Farrell 3 for 23.
The third place play-off resulted in Stingers beating Richmond Hill by six wickets.
Lawrence Shoy made 29 in Richmond Hillâs total of 65 all out.
Bowling Stingers, Adonis Nanton scooped 3 for 8; Bradley Richards â 3 for 18, Calbert Simmons â 2 for 13 and Kemron John â 2 for 14.
Stingers, in response, reached 71 for 4 in 12.3 overs; Zenroy Lee had 2 for 33, bowling for Richmond Hill.
Simple Boys collected $3,000; Clinchers â $2,000, Stingers â $ 1,000 and Richmond Hill â $500.(RT)
