Parnell Browne commands Masters’ Cricket awards
RSVG Policeâs Parnell Browne was the commanding officer when the awards were announced last Sunday at the closing ceremony of the SVG Masters Twenty/20 Cricket Competition at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field.{{more}}
Browne captured the most wickets â 16, which helped to win him the Best All Rounder award, as he also scored 201 runs and was the player of the match in last Sundayâs final against Sion Hill, in which he scored 31 runs and took 3 for 22.
Browne also was one of two players who collected five wicket hauls in an innings, when he picked off 5 for 30 versus Sion Hill in the preliminary round.
The other was Benedict Phillips of Kirk Da Silvaâs La Croix, who bagged 5 for 15 against Park Hill United.
All lumped, Browne was the obvious choice for Most Valuable Player of the competition.
Taking the award for the most runs was Uzzah Pope of Rate Your Boys Challengers, who totalled 265.
Sion Hillâs William âBillâ Edwards was the lone centurion in this yearâs edition, when he blasted 103 not out in his teamâs semi-finals versus North Leeward.
Another award went Sion Hillâs way, via Dave Richards, who claimed the Play of the Final award for his catch on the second attempt to dismiss Policeâs Gosnel Cupid.
In addition, a player from each of the competing 15 teams was awarded his teamâs Most Valuable Player award.
Collecting those awards were Deighton Butler â North East; Livingston John â Stubbs; Cassius Welcome â St Vincent Co-operative Bank Ptani; Uris King â Belfongo; Calvin Hazell â Bequia and James George â Catoâs Heavy Equipment Glamorgan.
The other awardees were Benedict Phillips â Kirk Da Silvaâs La Croix; William âBillâ Edwards â Sion Hill; Gosnel Cupid â RSVG Police; Oscar Ryan â Park Hill; Alvin Hope â Pastures; Rate Your Boys Challengers â Noel Samuel; Barrouallie â Noel Samuel and Marriaqua â Wendell Parris.
North East took Zone A and RSVG Police won Zone B.(RT)
