LOG Enterprise NL 5K pushed back
The grand finale of the road racing calendar for 2015 of Team Athletic SVG â the LOG Enterprise North Leeward 5K, which was set for this Sunday, December 13 has been postponed.
Citing the current political situation facing St Vincent and the Grenadines, a release from the local track and field body, sent by its president Keith Joseph stated:{{more}} âOnce more the circumstances in the country render it a most difficult proposition to host the annual LOG Enterprises 10K Road Race Series Grand Finale, as originally scheduled.â
Joseph advised, âThe political situation gates being able to host the road race on Sunday 13 December 2015 as planned…TASVG therefore postpones this event to a date to be announced soon.â
It is the second time in recent weeks, when at the 11th hour, TASVG has been forced to delete one of its events from its agenda.
The planned Round D Town Relay, which was set for November 29, was called off.
It was noted then that the low registration of teams and the political campaigning forced the cancellation of the four-leg race which was to circuit capital Kingstown.
The race was set to run off at 3 p.m. at Troumaca Bottom, with athletes running through the communities of Rose Bank, Petit Bordel and Chateaubelair, to end the course at the Beachfront Restaurant at Fitz-Hughes.
Competition was to be in the Under-15, Under-19, Over-19 and Veterans, with prize monies allocated to the top three places.
When the 2014 race took place, Junior Ashton won the 19 and Over male segment and Linda Mc Dowall â the female version of that age group.
Copping the male Under-19 was Akani Slater and Kerina Hooper â the female Under-19. Newman Peters was the winner in the male Under-15, with the female winner being Sarika Hooper.
Taking the male Veterans category was Caswin Prince and Sasha Hooper, the womenâs edition. Fifty-six of the 59 athletes who started last yearâs event stayed the course.(RT)
