President of the SVGTA James Bascombe responded recently via email, stating: âI hereby acknowledge receipt of your request and will be in touch with all, in the not too distant future, as to an appropriate date when the meeting can be held.â
The five â Karen Anderson, Anthony Boyea, Deborah King, Grant Connell and Terry Ballantyne â in making their request on September 15, 2015, requested financial updates on the 2014 and 2015 International Tennis Federationâs tournaments, staged at the National Centre at Villa, along with the âaccounting details of the money received from the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines/National Lotteries Authority for the repairs due to the National Tennis Centre 2015.â
Also on demand are the details of the bill, as submitted by Sydney Lopez, for the repair of the six courts at the National Tennis Centre; the position with regard to the alleged takeover of the facility by the National Lotteries Authority; and the selection of an interim committee for the executive until the Annual General Meeting is held.
But as the members await a date for the proposed meeting, another member of the executive has resigned.
Onike Spann, a committee member of the executive, tendered his resignation recently via email.
âHi James I would like to tender my resignation as a committee member of the St Vincent Tennis Association because I donât know what is going on in the executive and lack of meeting, but I am willing to assist with any task u need help with. Thank you,â Spann said in an email to the members of the executive.
Spannâs departure means that only James Bascombe, elevated president; Niquette Williams-Lewis, secretary; and Winfield Tannis-Abbott, committee member, remain on the executive.
Reports are that of the persons elected on September 25, 2013, the others have either resigned or have failed to function, thus distancing themselves from the set-up.
The full slate elected at that time read Miles Boyea, president; James Bascombe, vice president; Donnette Lyttle, treasurer; Cecile Michael-Samuel, assistant secretary; and Roland Veira, public relations officer. Spann, Tannis-Abbott, Karen Anderson and Julia Evans were the elected committee members.
Boyea resigned in 2014, which resulted in Bascombeâs elevation as head of the SVGTA.(RT)
