Starlight stumble, as RSVG Police march on in North Leeward
Carlos James Troumaca Starlight stumbled to a one-run loss to Ruddyâs Electrical, but RSVG Police kept a clean sheet, as another four matches were completed last weekend in the VINLEC North Leeward T20 Cricket Tournament, played at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.{{more}}
In Saturdayâs second match, Ruddyâs Electrical and Troumaca Starlight took their encounter to the wire.
Ruddyâs Electrical scored 161 all out off 19.2 overs, with Nolan Williams hitting 60 and Christopher Campbell, 31.
Bowling for Starlight, Kishnell John had 5 for 14 and Kentish John 2 for 26.
Troumaca Starlight, however, fell short by the slimmest of margins, restricted to 160 for 9 off 20 overs. Donald Delpesche â 33 and Ronique Samuel â 31, were the main contributors, but it was the bowling of Joelano Neil â 3 for 15, Colin Shoy â 2 for 24, and Samuel Holder â 2 for 29, which did it for the 2013 winners of the competition, Ruddyâs Electrical.
But there was no such letting up by RSVG Police, when they engaged Sharps United on Sunday.
RSVG Police totalled 171 for 8 off 18 overs, as the match was reduced, due to a late start. Donson Andrews hit a top score of 44, Marcus John â 39 and Elmore Alexander â 25.
Rellian McKie grabbed 3 for 25 and Desroy Samuel, 2 for 36, bowling for Sharps United, who were overturned for 103 all out off 12.2 overs; Asborn Nash made 23.
Responsible for taking those wickets were Elmore Alexander â 4 for 48, Sylvan Spencer and Mc Leon Williams both had 2 for 6 and Kenneth Dember â 2 for 22.
Also recording wins on the weekend were Coulls Hill Rangers and North Stars.
On Saturday, Coulls Hill Rangers defeated Petit Bordel Secondary School by 78 runs.
Coulls Hill Rangers posted 225 for 3 off 20 overs; Kesrick Williams scored 55, Marcus McCoy â 54 and Kishore Shallow was 44 not out.
In response, the school-boys got to 147 for 7 off 20 overs; Cklan McKie got 41.
Kishore Shallow, 2 for 21 and Angus Cyrus, 2 for 31, were the most successful bowlers for Coulls Hill Rangers.
And, North Stars beat Carlos James Peto Stars by six wickets on Sunday.
Peto Starsâ total of 139 for 9 off 20 overs, saw Ronique La Borde as top scorer with 56.
Lindon James took 2 for 6 and Kennard Forbes, 2 for 41 for North Stars, who replied with 143 for 4 off 18.3 overs. Lindon James was 63 not out. Kenrick Westfield took 2 for 21, bowling for Peto Stars.
Another four matches are carded for this weekend.
On Saturday, from 10 a.m., Sharps United take on Somerset; then at 2 p.m., Carlos James Troumaca Starlight face Petit Bordel Secondary School.
On Sunday, from 10 a.m., it will be North Stars versus Robertson Surveying Future Legends and from 2 p.m., the RSVG Police engage Somerset.(RT)
