Audain makes mark in New York cricket match
Vincentian Mark Audain had the distinction of scoring centuries in both innings of the annual Middletown, Rhode Island, cricket match, featuring New York City Cricket Club (NYCCC) and the St Columba Cricket Club.{{more}}
Audain, in the NYCCCâs first innings, scored 117 from 102 balls, in which he laced 13 fours. He and fellow Vincentian Hyron Shallow, whose 77 also included 13 fours saw their team to 416 for 6 declared in 80 overs.
Aiding the NYCCCâs total was Bilal Shahidâs 115 from 141 balls and which saw him lashing 17 fours and Ashish Kumar, 55, hitting three fours and the same numbers of sixes.
In reply, St Columba Cricket Club made 314 all out from 73.4 overs, with Suman 110 (9 x 4s and 7 x 6s), Binesh, 89 (11 x 4s), and Zubair â 33.
Shallow was also in the limelight with the ball, as he nabbed 4 for 33 and Shahid â 2 for 60.
Audainâs second innings ton of 119 was scored off 90 balls, as he upped the tempo, crafting 13 fours and five maximums. Joining Audain in hitting a second century was Shahid, who this time around stroked 107 (8 x 4s, 8 x 6s).
Shallow was again in the thick of things, as he fell short of triple figures, making 98. His knock was peppered with 12 fours and three sixes.
The NYCCCâS captain Umar contributed 51, as his team piled up 431 for 8 from 82.3 overs.
Suman had 3 for 88, bowling for St Columba.
Set a daunting 534 to win, St Columba were 100 for 4, when the match ended. Suman â 39 not out and Zubair â 31, were the main contributors in that total.
Three of the four wickets that fell went to the bowling of Ashish.(RT)
