Bentick, Doyle each take two titles in Junior Squash tourney

Kai Bentick and Jason Doyle, each secured two titles, when the St Vincent and the Grenadines Squash Association staged its 2013 Junior Squash Championships last weekend.{{more}}

The duo were the delight of the closing ceremony last Saturday afternoon at the National Squash Centre at Paul’s Avenue.

Bentick closed off Jlan Mc Master 11/2, 11/2, 11/3, to win the boys Under-13 and recorded an 11/5, 11/8, 11/3 victory over Geronimo Ross in the boys Under-15.

Doyle trumped the boys Under -17, as he defeated Kai Bentick 11/4, 11/9, 11/3 , then went on to stop Romario Constance 13/11, 11/7, 8/11, 11/5, in the boys Under-19 final.

Jordan Barnwell whipped Malachi McMaster 11/5, 11/4, 11/7, as he strode to the boys Under-11 title, while Giovanna Miller Alexander beat Loushanna Peters 11/3, 11/5, 11/8, to win the girls’ version of that age group.

Lauryn Doyle got the better of Loushanna Peters 11/4, 11/4, 11/3, as she won the girls Under- 13; Thandi Myers saw off Lauryn Doyle 11/2, 11/0, 11/1, to secure the girls Under-15.

And, Deiriai Myers defeated Gianna Miller Alexander 7/11, 11/8, 9/11, 11/4, 11/8, on her way to claim the girls’ Under-17 category.

The local lads and lasses are now bracing themselves for the sub-regional Squash forces, who will come in to face them on their own turf in the OECS championships.

The championships are slated for April 12 to 15, also at the National Squash Centre. (RT)
