After losing to Sheffield on Saturday at Marine Park B, Middlesex returned on Sunday at Sea View to lace their opponents as they played back-to-back matches.

In Middlesex’s 30-run triumph, Middlesex elected to bat and chalked up 179. Joseph Ledwridge struck 70, not out, dotted with four fours and two sixes. Mark Audain hit 43, including six fours. Bowling for Sheffield, Delon Muffet had 2 for 44.

Sheffield, in reply, were undone for 149, led by the bowling of Audain, who grabbed 8 for 27, from his 7 overs, his best bowling performance in the BCL.

The top batsmen for Sheffield were Akeem Dodson, who scored 58, including 4 fours and 2 sixes. Glen Hall contributed 30.

On Saturday at Marine Park B, when the two first traded punches, Sheffield batted first and scored 98 all out, with six of their bastmen failing to score.

Former West Indies fast bowler Adam Sanford snared 6 for 33 and Andre Kirton had 3 for 15.

But the Middlesex batting line up did not back their bowlers, as they crumbled for 80.

Denroy George had 3 for 23 and Ahmad Dodson 2 for 18, to see their team home.

Also on Saturday at Sea View, another Vincentian team, Queensbury, were in action as they took on Diplomats.

Queensbury took first strike and made 190 for 6. Tendon Reggis — 64, Charles Lee — 48 and Marcelin Stanford — 23, were the main batsmen.

Replying, Diplomats were dismissed for 145. Keith Eddie topscored with 51 and Selwyn Smith scored 32.

Queensbury bowling was led by Fitzroy Caesar, who got 4 for 45; Kenneth Charles, 2 for 27; Marcinlin Stanford, 2 for 42; and, Gregory Blair, 2 for 2.

Queensbury won by 45 runs.

On Sunday, Cavaliers, of Vincentian origin, met Wanderers.

Cavaliers could only reach 83 batting first. Leon Hyde was the stand out bowler for Wanders as he picked up 5 for 32 and Winston Celestine had 3 for 12.

Wanderers, replied with 84 for 6 in 16 overs, George Sutherland cracked 49 which include 6 sixes, as Wanderers strode to a four wicket win.

This knock out round begins this weekend with Middlesex and Cavaliers at Marine Park A and Travel Treat and Queensbury battle at Marine Park B. Both matches are set for Sunday. (RT)
