With four schools participating, Du Bois’ eight athletes compiled nineteen points, to leave the Fair Hall Government to settle for the second spot. Fair Hall and the Sion Hill Government both finished on 12 points, and it took a tie breaker to separate the two.

Sion Hill placed third and the Girls’ High School Combine was fourth with 9 points.

The athletes competed in the Forward Throw, the Hop Jump, the Ladder Jump and the Formula One, which is a combination of various sprint and obstacle events.

Three age ranges comprise D the Kids In Athletics programme: 7 to 8 years, 9 to 10 years and 11 to 12 years.

Notably absent from the championships was two-time champion and the 2011 winners, the Biabou Methodist School.

Coach of the Biabou Methodist School Calvert Shortte told SEARCHLIGHT on Saturday afternoon that the timing of the championships did not fit into the current national examination preparation programme.

Shortte revealed that many of the students are making their final preparations for the Common Entrance Examinations, hence, it was not possible for them to participate last Saturday.

Shortte said if the championships were held in June, following the CEE, his school would have definitely participated.

The KIA championships followed the Teams Event the previous Saturday, and before that, the Mustique Company National Club Championships. (RT)
