Mondo track official makes visit here today
St Vincent and the Grenadines will get one step closer to the acquisition of a synthetic track when when Michael Tovar, of one of the leading track suppliers, Mondo, pays a one-day visit here today.{{more}}
Tovar is the Area Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean.
The visit, which is being spearheaded by Team Athletics SVG, will see Tovar first holding a meeting with President of the National Olympic Committee Trevor Bailey; President of Team Athletics SVG Keith Joseph; coach Michael Ollivierre; Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports Cecil Mc Kie; and Chairman of the National Stadium Committee Garth Saunders.
Joseph, Saunders, Ollivierre and McKie will then be joined by Vice President of Team Athletics SVG Leroy Llewellyn, Manager of the National Sports Council Osbourne Browne, Sports Officer Woodrow Williams, Director of Physical Education and Sports Nelson Hillocks, Assistant Superintendent of Operations at the National Sports Council, Ian Allen and Rohan Thomas in site visits to the Diamond Industrial Estate, the area proposed for the National Stadium, then to Sion Hill Playing Field.
Mondo has been the Official Supplier of the athletic tracks for the last nine stagings of the Olympic Games: Montreal â76, Moscow â80, Los Angeles â84, Seoul â98, Barcelona â92, Atlanta â96, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, and is the official supplier for the London Olympics this Summer.
