But it was not a happy outing first up for Cavaliers, which was defeated by Travel Treat at Marine Park C, by 140 runs.
Travel Treat posted 345 for 7 from 33 overs, then dismissed Cavaliers for 205.
For Cavaliers, Albert Tesheira made 79, Selwyn Caine 27 and Bert Browne 24.
Also on Saturday, at Marine Park A, Middlesex Cricket Club and Queensbury Cricket Club, faced each other in an all Vincy clash.
Batting first, Middlesex scored 232 for 6 from 29 overs, recovering from 81 for 5.
A sixth wicket partnership of 151, between Andre Kirton and Treldon Mc Millan, propped up their innings.
Kirton struck 131, which included 12 fours and 5 sixes, and Mc Millan supported with 30 not out.
Bowling for Queensbury, Kenneth Charles had 4 for 33.
Queensbury, in its turn, was bowled out for 99 in 28.2 overs; Veldon Chance made 23.
Dominic Audain picked 3 for 15 and Mark Audain 2 for 31, as Middlesex romped to a 133 run win.
The other Vincentian team is Imperial.
The 2012 season will see nine teams participating, a reduction of some ten teams from 2011, while one team, Travel Treat, is back after a two-year absence.
Sheffield is a new entrant to the competition.
Not in the competition this year are eight Pakistani-based teams, along with Grenada, while St Lucia and Carriacou are defunct.
Secretary of the Brooklyn Cricket League Patrick Sutherland said that there were some issues this year which resulted in some teams opting out.
Sutherland intimated that ânobody is bigger than the gameâ and said he does not see this affecting the quality of the competition, as the top eight teams are still in the competition.
As a result, there will now be two rounds in the regular league matches, as well as two rounds in the Knockout, with the season still running into September as usual.
Notable features in this yearâs competition are the Power Play overs and the use of the thirty-yard circle.
The matches are of 40 overs maximum, and will at start at 1:00 p.m. and are to be played in coloured clothes, using white balls.
The venues are Marine Parks, A, B and C, and Sea View. (RT)
