Biabou Football League hits Quarter-final stages
Both competitions of the Biabou Nine-A-Side Football League are into the quarter-final stages.{{more}}
The league competition sees eight teams advancing, vying for semi-final spots, following the completion of the preliminary round.
Emerging from Group A are Stubbs Soccer Family, who finished on 16 points and a goal difference of 19 goals. Defending champion, Cane End, who had to settle for second position, also received a quarter-final berth. Cane End compiled 12 points and has 23 goals in their goal difference column.
Colonarie Unique Warriors with 13 points and a goal difference of two goals topped Group B, ahead of Brownstown Unitedâs, which holds 11 points and 16 goals to their credit.
From Group C, Rootsman Strikers and Biabou United advance. Rootsman Strikers completed their quota of matches with 13 points and a goal difference of five, and Biabou United 10 points and a goal difference of zero.
Last yearâs losing finalist, Sea Operations Greiggs, heads into the quarter-finals as one of the two best third place finishers. Greiggs, which played in Group B, totaled 10 points, with a goal difference of 13 goals. The other third place team, Linkers, came out of Group A, with 10 points, but with a goal difference of five goals.
The quarter-final match up sees Stubbs versus Greiggs, Colonarie versus Linkers, Cane End pitting their skills against Rootsman Strikers and Biabou United against Brownstown.
In the goal scoring table, Amon Bascombe, of Cane End, leads the pack with 14 goals, Valdo Anderson of Sea Operations Greiggs on 13, and Don Laborde of Cane End, in third spot with 11 goals to his name.
Meanwhile, the Knock-Out Competition is also into its last eight.
And, last weekend, some teams had the opportunity to enhance their chances of getting closer to the title.
Ghetto Flames advanced 4-3 on penalties over Colonarie after both teams finished 1-1. Brownstown United whipped Richland Park Pride and Joy 4-2, Cane End blanked Rootsman Strikers five nil, and Stubbs Soccer Family overcame Owia two nil. (RT)
