Trimmingham bags bounty of wickets

Isaac Trimmingham bagged a match haul of 11 for 61, but his team Pastures Youths still did not come out in the ascendancy in the lone fixture of the First Division, as the 2011 St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association competitions got going last weekend.{{more}}

Playing at the Stubbs Playing Field, Trimmingham took 6 for 43 in ASCO’s first innings and 5 for 18 in the second, to complete his bounty.

ASCO batted first and made 183, with Desron Maloney the topscorer with 57. Oswald Soleyn contributed 33, Andre Hunte, 29, and Stein Joseph, 26. Assisting Trimmingham’s effort were Darrell Little who took 2 for 28, and Damal Phillips, 2 for 32.

Pastures Youths in reply were dismissed for 129. Damal Phillips struck 61. Bowling for ASCO, Travis Cumberbatch snapped up 3 for 35, and Kamal Thomas, 2 for 26.

ASCO’s second innings stopped at 82, with Trimmingham again the wrecker, and Little chipped in with 2 for 18.

Set 127 to win, Pastures Youths were 39 for 2 when the match ended.

In the other fixture, but this time in the RBTT Premier Division, 2010 winners OLA Boutique Radcliffe took full points over newly promoted Eat Rite Saints, the 2010 First Division winners.

The Arnos Vale One Playing Field was the venue for the encounter, which saw Saints posting 97 as they took first strike. Their innings was thwarted by the bowling efforts of medium pacer Drumo Toney who snared 5 for 30, and off spinner Dyke Cato, who took 3 for 36.

Radcliffe responded with 145, a lead of 48. Joefloyd John made 32, and Drumo Toney, 31. Devane Warner, Ted Roberts, Kentish Philips, Ray Charles and Romano Bibby all captured two wickets each.

Saints in their second innings made 118. Sunil Ambris led the resilience with 58. Andy Harper captured 4 for 26, and Dyke Cato, 3 for 35.

Radcliffe reached the victory target of 71, for the loss of one wicket, to win comfortably by nine wickets and shot out from the blocks in defence of their title. (RT)
