Avenues running away with Premier Division Football Title

It is a case of catch us if you can, as Avenues United remains the lone unbeaten team in the Premier Division of the 2010-2011 National Lotteries Authority National Club Championships,{{more}} under the aegis of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation.

Last Sunday, Avenues defeated Je Belle four goals to nil, to all but retain the title they first won in the 2009-2010 format.

Scoring for Avenues were Romano Snagg in the 32nd and 52nd minutes, and Myron Samuel in the 38th and 82nd.

The win pushed Avenues to 19 points from seven matches, with six wins and a draw.

Hoe International is also on 19 points, but from nine matches, having notched up six wins and drawn one; but they lost two matches. Prospect United, System 3 and K & R Strikers tie on 13 points, but Prospect holds its position from six matches, System 3 from eight matches and K & R from nine.

Also on Sunday, K&R Strikers and Edge Solution Camdonia Chelsea played to a hard fought four-all draw.

Osmal Millington scored a hat-trick, while Nicholas Ollivierre scored the other for K&R Strikers.

Kenton Ollivierre scored a brace, while Wazer McBurnette and Dominic Small converted for Chelsea.

In other Premier Division fixtures on the weekend, K & R Strikers positioned themselves better with an upset win over System 3, three goals to one. Earl Spencer scored in the 73rd, Daren Anderson in the 75th and Nicholas Ollivierre in the 80th minute for K&R Strikers. Alonzo Bute scored for System 3 in the 66th minute.

Pastures United defeated Edge Solution Camdonia Chelsea 2-0. Darren Hamlet scored in the 16th minute and Shemmol Trimmingham converted in the 53rd minute.

At the other end of the table, Predators defeated Toni’s Store Jugglers 2-1. It was the first on-field victory for Predators since their entry into the National Club Championship. Their previous win was by default over United Force and they enjoyed a 1-1 draw with Zodiac last year. So far, for this season, they were able to earn a 1-1 draw with Pastures United.

Andel Prince scored in the 13th minute and Calrick Ferdinand in the 84th minute for Predators. Kurlan Williams registered in the 25th minute for Jugglers.

And, also in the top flight, Hope International got past JG Agencies & Sons Stingers 2-1. Dorian Dallaway scored in the 5th and Marlon James in the 64th minute for Hope. Jimmie Joshua netted for Stingers in the 50th minute.

Last Saturday, Cane End and Sea Operations Greggs FC played to a 1-all draw in a First Division encounter. (RT)
