Winners go forth in Hurdles Classic
In the inaugural Team Athletics SVG Hurdles Classics, which took place last Saturday at the Victoria Park, Jonielle Huggins of the St. Josephâs Convent Kingstown won the Girlsâ Under-14 60 m in 13.93 seconds, with Brendon Matthews of the St. Martinâs Secondary School taking the boys event over that distance, in 10.75 seconds.{{more}}
Kira Joseph of the St. Josephâs Convent Kingstown won the 200m Girls. Josephâs time was 32.92 seconds and Joran Matthews of the Petit Bordel Secondary, the boys category, in 31.41 seconds.
In the Under-17, Zhane Ryan of the St. Josephâs Convent Kingstown won the girls 60m, and Lennox Spence of the St. Vincent Grammar School, the boys.
Ryanâs time was 11.21 seconds and Spenceâs 9.96.
Spence went on to win the Boys 200m in 27.42 seconds and Danielle Gilbert of the St. Josephâs Convent Marriaqua, the girls 200m, in a time of 26.31 seconds.
The Under-19 Boys 60 m was taken by Danielle Gilbert of the St. Josephâs Convent Marriaqua, and Colin Richards of X- Cel, the Boys Division, in 10.48 and 9.52 seconds, respectively.
Faylicia John of Bishopâs College Kingstown took the 200m in 30.76 seconds and Makhali Slater of X-Cel, the boys 200m in 26.31 seconds.
In the open category, the winner in the females 60m was Sandrieka Hooper of X-Cel, who clocked 12.1 seconds and Joel Oâ Garro, also of X- Cel, the male winner, returning a time of 9.19 seconds.
In a clean sweep, X-Celâs Jesse Ryan copped the Male 200m in 25.75 seconds.
The winners of last Saturdayâs events will have another opportunity to show case their talents this Saturday as TASVG hosts its Relay Classics, also at the Victoria Park.(RT)
