The two top teams will represent the competition in a special champion of champions play-offs, also involving the two top finishers in the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation Competition as well as the Calliaqua Area Development Organisation Competition.

Member of Parliament for West St. George Cecil Mc Kie made the disclosure as he addressed the Opening Ceremony of the 2011 competition, last Saturday afternoon at the Dauphine Playing Field.

McKie disclosed that he will personally seek sponsorship for the champion of champions competition, which he said will be played over one weekend.

Mc Kie also used last Saturday’s ceremony to hand over a quantity of cricket gear to the ASCO Cricket team, to aid in their participation in the 2011 National First Division Cricket Competition, organized by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association.

He presented the gear to President of ASCO Dennisford Foster, who expressed that the gesture was timely.

Foster and Director of Physical Education and Sports Nelson Hillocks, gave brief remarks at the ceremony and march past of the 17 teams which were present.

The 2011 ASCO Softball T/20 Competition sees 25 teams participating, including power house CGM Novice, which will be doing so for the first time.

Also making their debut is Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines All Stars, which took the Best Turned Out Team Award.

The teams were then involved in a Ball-o- Rama, which signaled the start of the competition. (RT)
