Masters T/20 Cricket in full flight

Seven matches were contested last weekend in the National Masters T/20 Cricket Competition, and there were wins for Stubbs, Pastures, Barrouallie, Kingstown, Sion Hill, Belfongo, and Police.{{more}}

Tropical Shipping Stubbs defeated SVG Cooperative Bank P’tani by five wickets

P’tani scored 116 for 9 off 20 overs. Walford Ambris hit 32. Carlos Andrews took 3 for 20.

Stubbs responded with 117 for 5 off 19.1 overs. Dawnley Joseph struck 61 not out. Adolph Campbell took 3 for 3 and Winston Campbell, 2 for 24, in a losing effort.

Joyette’s Auto/Slater Development Pastures beat Dasent Cottage by 44 runs.

Pastures chalked up 127 for 7 off their allotment of 20 overs, led by Robert Hackshaw’s 23. Ardon Hall contributed 21 and Frederick Trimmingham hit 21 not out.

Dasent Cottage struggled to 83 for 9 off 20 overs. Rohan McLean was the main batsman with 25, as Eddie Hadaway, Austin Benjamin and Winston Knights took two wickets each.

Rudy’s Electrical Barrouallie inflicted a three wicket defeat on Ajuba.

Ajuba batted first and was dismissed for 75 off 15 overs. Nicholas Samuel 3 for 10, and Aldric Bulze, 3 for 7, bowling for Barrouallie.

Lance John then hit 23, as Barrouallie replied with 76 for 7 off 13.5 overs.

Also in the winner’s column was Log Enterprises Kingstown which recorded an 82 run win over Buccament Valley.

Kingstown plotted 134 for 7 off 20 overs, led by Bradley Brooker’s 57. Bowling for Buccament, Brendon Barker had 3 for 20, and Henry Charles, 2 for 23.

Buccament Valley was shot out for 52 in 16 overs. Cornelius Springer, 3 for 16, and Leopold Simmons, 3 for 4, crafted Kingstown’s triumph with the ball.

Also, Sion Hill defeated Bequia by 38 runs. Sylvester Vanloo continued in rich form, as he scored 78, and Colbert Mc Donald, 24, as Sion Hill got to 169 for 4 off 20 overs.

Bequia’s innings closed at 131 for 7 off 20 overs. Bowling for Sion Hill, Dave Rodriguez had 3 for 16, and Cecil Charles, 2 for 15.

Meanwhile, Computec Belfongo secured a 56 win at the expense of Bequia .

Belfongo’s 169 for 7 off 20 overs saw Elton Williams making 72 and Urias King, 23. Ellis Lavia and Freddie Friday picked up two wickets each.

In reply, Bequia was dismissed for 113. Ellis Lavia, 36, and Elvis John, 26, were the principal scorers for Bequia, as Freddie Campbell and Sylvannus Morgan took two wickets apiece.

And, Police defeated North Leeward by eight wickets. North Leeward compiled 114 all out off 17.5 overs. William Anthony, 22 not out.

Parnel Browne had a handful, 5 for 21 and Calvin Glasgow, 2 for 13, bowling for the lawmen.

Police sped to 118 for 2 off 9.5 overs. Jeffrey Laborde, 48 not out, Parnel Browne, 29 not out, and Gosnel Cupid, 23, led the run chase.

Stubbs and Belfongo lead Group A with 16 points, with Sion Hill and Arnos Vale stacked on 12.

In Group B, Police and Barrouallie are on 14 points, with Kingstown and North Leeward, on 12 points. (RT)
