The team, comprising members of the Street Auto Tuners Club (STAC), took 6 of the 18 top three finishes, to end the competition second overall behind Trinidad and Tobago with 10.

Martello Knights and Anthony Cupid were the pick of the drivers, having won their respective categories.

Knights, driving a Subaru Impreza, won the ‘11 second’ bracket, with Cupid (Nissan Skyline) topping the ‘16 second’ bracket.

Knights also clocked a time of 10.8 seconds, the fastest time of the event, in the quarter mile run.

Obed Williams (Honda Integra) and Shaundy St Hilaire (Honda CRX) on his first Drag racing event finished 2nd in the ‘13 second’ and ‘15 second’ brackets, respectively. Completing the honours list were Elton Bailey (Mitsubishi Evolution 9) and Andre DaSilva (Toyota Glanza), taking third spots in the ‘11 second’ and ‘16 second’ brackets.

Nigel St Hilaire and Sunel John, both driving Honda Civics, crashed out of competition, due to transmission complications.

Jason Moussa, John Riffin, Lennox Jack, Mark Sassine, Marcus Wallace and Colin Sardine rounded up the contingent of 14 that left last Friday for the 3 day event.

They were, however, all eliminated in competition.

Moussa, President of STAC, told SEARCHLIGHT that he was pleased overall with the performance of the team.

“It just goes to show how much more we could have achieved if we had a track at home,” he said.

“Nevertheless, we are happy to be carrying the Vincentian flag.”

He said that he was thankful to the sponsors, STAC, Cash Money Auto and Richardson Motors.

The team will next journey to Grenada in May. (DD)
