Cupid pierces with a century

Former St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Windwards middle order batsman Gosnel Cupid hit a century to lead Police Masters to a 62 run victory over Joyette’s Auto Slater Development Pastures Masters, as the National Masters Cricket Competition continued last weekend.{{more}}

Cupid plundered eight sixes and seven fours, as he compiled 105 not out, in his team’s total of 199 for 5 off 20 overs. Sammy Francis, who also represented St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Jamaica, chipped in with 39. Wendell Browne captured 3 for 25, bowling for Pastures, who were restricted to 137 for 4 off their 20 overs.

Frederick Trimmingham made 38 with Jomo Thomas and Anthony Trimmingham both scoring 38 not out.

Layou Masters defeated Barrouallie Masters by nine wickets.

In a low scoring encounter, Barrouallie Masters scored 35 for 6, to which Layou Masters, responded with 36 for 1. Bernard Jack hit 23 not out.

Also, Log Enterprises Kingstown Masters continued their uninterrupted run when they stopped North Leeward Masters by eight wickets.

North Leeward Masters laboured to 39 for 7. Hollis John, Joseph Medford and Bradley Brooker picked up two wickets apiece.

Kingstown Masters responded with 40 for 2. Brooker made 17 not out.

Sion Hill Masters defeated C.K Greaves Vintage Arnos Vale Masters by six wickets, as they make a last surge.

C.K Greaves Vintage Arnos Vale Masters could only get to 96 for 8 off 20 overs

Ken Hull topscored with 37 not out, and former St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Windwards batsman Monty Warner made 28.

Sylvester Vanloo captured 5 for 16, bowling for Sion Hill. Vanloo then scored 40 not out, as Sion Hill overhauled the total, reaching 97 for 4. Colbert McDonald contributed 29.

Leroy Glasgow captured 2 for 12, bowling for Arnos Vale who also went under to Computec Belfongo also by six wickets.

Arnos Vale Masters made 95 all out. Ted Roberts, another former SVG player, topscored with 38. Curtis King, Junior Bacchus and Wendell Glasgow all captured three wickets each. Belfongo Masters replied with 97 for 4. Tommy King hit 39 not out and Peter Campbell scored 21, as Roberts took 2 for 6. (RT)
