RBTT Bank wins Inter Financial Games

It was the RBTT Bank all the way, when the Inter Financial institutions held their annual sports meet last Saturday afternoon at the Victoria Park.{{more}}

Decked out in their white and blue, and sporting the largest contingent, RBTT strode to victory, outpointing the other three banks to total 222 points. Second was First Caribbean International (FCIB) with 177 points. It was a marked improvement for the third place team, the St. Vincent Co-operative Bank, which tallied 171. Former winner, the National Commercial Bank (NCB) had to settle for fourth in the four team competition.

Francis Llewelyn of FCIB was the top male performer on the afternoon. He returned 23 points. Paul Ann Lewis of champion team RBTT secured the award of top female performer. Lewis finished with 16 points.

The highly competitive meet saw traditional activities such as the Lime and Spoon, Sack Race, Piggy Back, Plank Race among others.

The highlight, though, was the Tug O War, which proved to be a test of strength and technique, and went right down to the ropes.

Preceding the activities was the colourful March Past and the overplayed Cheer Leading Competition. NCB stashed away both titles.

Apart from workers from the four banks, their off spring and spouses also had their turn to show their worth on the track.

This year, though, saw a reduction in representation, as the Bank of Nova Scotia and the General Employees Cooperative Credit Union were absent from the proceedings. Team Athletics SVG once again organized this year’s programme, which was the eighth edition.(RT)
