This weekend’s finals are a held over from last year, when the scheduled dates were shelved because of the unavailability of the Sion Hill Playing Field. The field was used in the recent political campaigning and became affected following one of the rallies.

En route to the final, defending First Division champions System 3 (there was no First Division competition in 2003) qualified second in the preliminary stage of the 2004 competition and defeated UNDB Rose Place and JG Stingers, in the quarterfinal and semifinal respectively.

System 3’s opponents Hope International, the reigning national league champions, played unbeaten, steam rolling their way in the preliminaries to qualify first. They continued this form progressed to the finals by defeating Pepsi Sion Hill in the quarterfinal, and JaBelle in the semifinal.

System 3 II qualified first in group-A of the Second Division and qualified for the final with wins over Just For Fun in the quarterfinal then Ramerson Rocksdale in the semifinal. Richmond Hill, qualified third in group-B, took Julian’s Madd Strikers in the quarterfinal then proceeded to the finals with a win over favourites Strike Force in the semifinal.

Sunday’s final will showcase many of the top players in the state in a match, which will determine the heavyweight champions of local football.

The presentation and closing ceremony will follow Sunday’s match.
