A business management student, Haynes from the East St. George town of Calliaqua was spotted while playing a Caribbean Cup match for the New York based Vincentian team against Haiti.
A nippy striker with a knack for the game, Haynes was one of the main goal scorers in this countryâs quest to advance to the final stage of the Concacaf final.
He began playing soccer while attending the Calliaqua Anglican School and continued his skills at the St. Vincent Grammar School where he played for the school team. While a student at the St. Vincent Community College, his efforts helped the team to the top place for two consecutive years in the Inter-Secondary School Football competition. He was awarded the prestigious Sportsman of the Year award at the 1998 Community College graduation ceremony.
He played for some of the nationâs top teams before grafting his way into the national team.
Even after his graduation, Haynes is not abandoning his exploits on the field of play. He has been called for trails for some top Clubs and expects to maintain his prolific scoring record no matter what team he lines up for.
Son of Yvette Haynes, he has also been guided along the way by a number of persons including the Morris brothers Des and Stanley.
He hit the nets on several occasions for the senior national squad at both the World Cup and Digicel Caribbean Cup.
Congratulations “Ren.”
