Vinlec North Leeward Cricket on

Orville Franklyn 86 propelled his team Enforcers to a four wicket win over Somerset in the Vinlec North Leeward Senior Cricket Competition. {{more}}

Franklyn’s innings steered Enforcers to 166 for 6 off 26.3 overs. Somerset fell for 164 off 27.5 overs, buoyed by Elsworth Browne 61, supported by Garfield Edwards 39. William Edwards 4 for 10 was the destroyer of the Somerset innings.

The action continues this weekend with two matches again at the Petit Bordel Playing Field. Cool Veterans play Troumaca Young Strugglers tomorrow Saturday while Ajuba One and Two, square off in an all Spring Village rivalry Sunday.

Peters hits century

Kenroy Peters has proven his batting skills on many occasions for the Windward Islands Senior Cricket team. A right handed batsman, with a range of shots synonymous with one accustomed to batting high on the order Peters, unleashed his repertoire against newly promoted St. David North Leeward Sports Association in last weekend’s RBTT Premier Division encounter.

Peters hit 112 in the second innings for Saints to put his team in a safe position. He and Orlando John 10, put on a frustrating 63 run tenth wicket stand to deny St. David North Leeward any thoughts of pulling off a come from behind victory. They took the score from 132 for 9 to 195 all out.

North Leeward fell short by 18 runs of Saints first innings 177. Cassique Martin 58 top scored in Saints first innings.

But Peters was not to be kept out of the [picture. He scored 33, and picked up 4 for 38 when North Leeward batted. They went for 159. Tishaun Lavia 43, Ian John 36 and Sheldon Hooper 28 were among the runs for North Leeward.

Leon McAllister 3 for 33 was the leading wicket taker for North Leeward in the first innings while Desroy Samuel 3 for 37 and Javon Samuel 3 for 65 picked up the scalps in the second innings.
