St. Vincent and the Grenadines will look to advance to the third stage of the CFU Digicel Caribbean Cup when they play the return match at the National Cricket Stadium in Grenada this Sunday. The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. {{more}}

Vincy Heat secured a 3:1 win in their home match at the Grammar School last Sunday. Goals from Shandell Samuel in the 10th, Alwyn Guy, 23rd and Kendall Velox, 64th, gave them the advantage. Dennis Rennie pulled one back for the visitors in the 59th minute.

Grenada took the game to the Vincentians and mounted some raids in the early portion. It was on a counter-attack that the Grenadian goalkeeper fumbled a cross from right winger Darren Francis. Samuel picked up the rebound and lobbed over the goalkeeper’s head. It seemed out of bounds for a moment before landing into the goal.

The second goal came after another decisive attack, but the Grenadians appeared to be awaiting St. Lucian Francis Fanus’ whistle for offside. Guy’s left-foot shot caught goalkeeper Andray Baptiste flat footed and gave the Vincentians some comfort.

But the 5,000 or so fans, crammed into all vantage points of the facility, were kept in silent suspense, having seen their team squander a two-goal lead over Bermuda in the preliminary round.

The Grenadians came out purposefully in the second half, determined to equalise. Rennie put them in business, but the Vincentians regained their dominance five minutes later. Velox headed from a free kick taken near the left corner post after a defender brought down Samuel. Thereafter, the Vincentians regained their posture and sealed the issue.

Trinidad and Tobago made good progress to their Third Round for the showdown with the winner of the Vincy Heat/Grenada clash.

They beat British Virgin Islands 4:0 at the O.A. Shirley Recreation Ground in Road Town, Tortola.

Jamaica and St. Lucia played to a one all draw in St. Lucia. The winner of that series meets French Guyana in a home and away Third Round January 9 and 16.

Haiti beat St. Kitts/Nevis one nil at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. The return game was set for Basse-terre, Wednesday, December 15.

Cuba beat the visiting Martinique at the Estado Pedro Marrero in Havana.

Three triumphant units join Barbados in the Final Round carded for Barbados, February 20 to 24. But there is more at stake than simply getting to Barbados. That series will determine the three teams to qualify for the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the USA July 6 to 24 and crown the Caribbean champion.
