Greene, Dallaway get West Indies selection
St.Vincent and the Grenadines Menâs Rugby team has made a good showing overseas. Team SVG finished eighth in the North America West Indies Rugby Association Sevens Tournament held in the Cayman Islands June 8 to 9.{{more}}
Team SVGâs lone win came against St. Lucia with a 17-12 margin. The Vincentians however lost to Barbados 25-7 and to the Bahamas 21-7.
The USA Eagles dominated the tournament, totally obliterating Bermuda 61-0 in the finals.
The Bermudans will represent the West Indies at the World Sevens Cup in 2005.
Ten teams participated in the tournament.
Although SVG placed eighth, the local players were able to hold their own among some top players from across the region. In fact two members of the local team gained selection to the West Indies team which participated in the De Loitte & Touche International tournament which followed.
The two selectees were Hollis Greene and Recardoâ Yellowâ Dallaway.
The members of the team were Andre Phillips, Recardo Dalloway, Anizo Lewis, Semour Browne, Teshurn Edwards, Alexander Joseph, Phillip Allvis, Lorson Lewis, Justin Tittle and Hollis Greene.
The team was accompanied by officials Jacqui DeFreitas, vice president and John Townend, the president of the Rugby Association.
