Cricket gear for Emmanuel High
When the Sir Garfield Sobers Under-19 Tournament comes off next August, the Emmanuel High School Kingstown will be better equipped to handle the competition.
The Emmanuel High School – defending JG Agencies Secondary School Football and United Insurance Secondary School Cricket champions – had their supplies boosted with cricket gear worth over Canadian $5,000 with a donation from past president of the Ontario Cricket Association Elvin Pompey. {{more}}
Pompey, originally from Canouan, and his wife Petra, a well-known former netballer from the Pauls Avenue area, handed over the items to Andrew Bramble whose work with the school is well established.
This is the fourth time that the Pompeys have given sporting equipment to the nationâs educational institutions.
Other institutions that have benefited in the past from the Pompeyâs generosity are the Canouan Government School in 2000, St. Martins Secondary in 2001 and the St. Josephâs Convent Marriaqua in 2003.
Seymour âRollitâ Waldron, the man responsible for selecting the schools for the donations, witnessed this yearâs
presentation.
