Pollution is a serious threat to the potential of the Blue Economy in the OECS
The resource base of the OECS marine space supports an array of livelihoods, supplies important goods and services, and is replete with untapped resources that can be extracted for commercial trade.
Our OECS marine environment is vital to the economic and social life and prosperity of our OECS islands. The OECS Blue Economy agenda seeks to exploit the significant opportunities of our marine space to realize our region’s true development potential.
The state of pollution of our waters is a serious threat to this potential. The OECS ReMLit Project supports this agenda through regional and national projects aimed at collective action to subvert this threat. (https://www.oecs.org/en/marine-pollution-eastern-caribbean)
