Thank God for ECGC; it helped to educate my children
âI feel proud of working here, because it is here I see myself as somebody.â
Those are the words of Samuel Charles of Campden Park, an employee of the Eastern Caribbean Group of Companies (ECGC) for the last 39 years.
Samuel started working with the company in October 1978 as a handyman and later became a mill assistant. He attributes his job to some of his successes in life.
âYou know when you own a little home or something, that is the most in St Vincent and the Grenadines; so I feel proud. The time here was good, most of the time,â said Samuel.
Singing more praises for the company, Samuel added, âDown here good for anybody, because you can see yourself make a futureâ¦you get health insurance and other thing.â
The father of three also thanked the company for their book allowance scheme, which helped him to educate his children.
He said over the years, apart from changes in equipment, there have also been changes in rules that have seen the company line up internationally with safety regulations.
âThank God for the company, because if it wasnât for ECGC, I would not have seen myself,â declared Samuel, who revealed that he started working at age 20 and is now 59.
âI thank God because me still look good, feel good with no sickness.â
