You put something in, you get something out!

Name Recognition is achieved not by the size or age of the business. It’s achieved by how well you market your business! It’s like priming a pump; you put something in to get something out.

People continue to ask how the nominees and winners for the Best of SVG were determined. All we did was provide the categories; the public made the selections. If you’re wondering why your business didn’t make the list; it may be that you don’t have a consistent public presence.

Here are three simple ways to get noticed:

Advertise. Like oxygen is to the body, so is advertising to a business. You need it to survive.

Have at least one social media site. Some businesses have it all – website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter…but their information is outdated. It’s better to have one active social media site that’s engaging, than to have several that are inactive.

Be consistent. Be there when you said you will. Over the course of a couple days, I called on some small businesses around Kingstown. Disappointingly, but not entirely surprising, most of them were closed at mid-morning, I believe because business is considered “slow”; but business is “slow” because when customers and potential customers show up, you’re not there.

I’m confident that with a well defined marketing plan and commitment, you’ll see results.

James N Watkins said it best: “A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence”.
