Speaking at the end of the Programme last Friday, Glasgow said she is happy that CED Business Gateway was able to bring such a Programme that has changed the youthsâ perception that agriculture is not a viable career option for them.
âThe participants got to see how the world of business and agriculture can be married to create opportunities for the development of the youths in our country,â âGlasgow said. âThe main objective of the Programme was achieved as participants were exposed to the many different opportunities in agri-business and got first-hand experience in business ethics.â
Glasgow, however, admitted that while the Programmeâs objectives are sound there is always room for improvement.
âThe opportunity to engage in actual business activities would be a vital element to implement in the Programme,â she stated.
The first week saw the participants engaging in the dynamics of groups and creating linkages with persons from other schools and communities in the country. Facilitators and members of the Business Gateway staff introduced participants to the world of business and how it can benefit them as youths. The participants also got to visit several agri-business operations and were involved in practical exercises during these visits.
During the second week they were engaged in creative work and assignments. Working in groups the participants debated a prepared topic as well as quizzes.
An official closing ceremony will be held at a later date when participants would be rewarded for their performances and presented with certificates of participation.
