SVG celebrates Tourism Week

The Ministry of Tourism, Youth and Sports is celebrating Tourism Week 2007 from Sunday, November 25th to Saturday, December 1st, 2007, under the theme âBuilding a Culture of Service Excellence for SVGâs Tourism Industryâ.
This yearâs Tourism Week commenced with a Church Service for staff and other members of the Tourism Sector on Sunday, November 25th, at the Glen Baptist Church, located in Glen.{{more}} There, Pastor Sylvester King, who is also a staff member in the Department of Youth, delivered a message based on the theme.
A panel of Tourism specialists was featured on Sundayâs Hitz talk program on Hitzfm radio station. The panellists for the programme were the Honourable Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports Glen Beache, Tourism Consultant and Trainer-Vera-Ann Brereton and Gernot Ott,Project Support Coordinator for the EU funded Tourism Development Project.
One of the highlights of this yearâs Tourism Week was the inaugural call of the Azamara Quest, a ship from the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Company. It is said that this Cruise line employs the most Vincentians after the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Some schools, including the Thomas Saunders Secondary School and the Calliaqua Anglican School, also received brief addresses from Tourism officials at their Monday morning General Assembly. Today, Friday, November 30th, highlights of the year in the Tourism Sector are being feaured in Searchlight Newspaper.
