Irvin Robertson was awarded a plaque for his commitment of over 40 years to the sport as a player, administrator, umpire, commentator and sports reporter. Robertson is still an active player; he plays for the North Leeward team in the current Masters tournament.

Although Grenville Edwards retired as an umpire some three years ago, he is still an ardent spectator of the sport. Edwards played cricket form his formative years through to adulthood; he has led several teams, and when injuries prevented him from playing he turned to fulltime umpiring. In accepting his award Edwards thanked the NLSA and encouraged the young cricketers to practice discipline.

Joint winners President Klick and Somerset were awarded trophies. They will also share the challenge trophy. Orlando Charles and William Edwards were awarded MVP of the finals while Ronique Laborde was awarded MVP of tournament.

Feature speaker, West Indies Team Manager Michael Findlay told the audience that strong committed and efficient administration is what kept cricket going in north leeward throughout the years. “Look to life beyond cricket; education is important. Mix it together with cricket,” he said.

Area representative Dr Jerrol Thompson said that the government intends to develop a number of playing fields in North Leeward and also construct a covered pavilion at the Petit Bordel playing field.
