NBC honours employees at Annual Dinner, Awards
Scrumptious food, short, reflective speeches, laughter and fitting recognition was the order of the day when the Board and staff of the National Broadcasting Corporation took time out from their own Christmas schedule to spend an evening together.
A total of 20 awards were given out last Saturday, December 30, at the Tropic Breeze Hotel where NBC’s Dinner and Awards Ceremony was held.{{more}}
The man of the night was certainly morning announcer, Desmond Arrindell, who cupped Employee of the Year honours. The programming department, headed by Junanita Francois was adjudged the award for Excellence in departmental output.
Sixteen staffers received the “Spirit of NBC” award for their contribution to the company’s community outreach and promotional activities. The two flag ships of this outreach initiative are the Love Buggy, a back in times fete usually held in February, and the Community Affair. It is an open air concert held in December and features top local artistes who gave of their time and talent freely for the cause of charity.
Monies raised from these events are used to replenish NBC’s medical fund. The fund has already benefited 13 persons.
