Ministry takes promotion to Antigua, Martinique
The Ministry of Tourism’s Regional Marketing and Promotions Campaign expanded in early April when two new markets were added.
The Ministry launched a campaign in Antigua at the Jolly Beach Resort and in Martinique at the Hotel Barteliere. Minister of Tourism and Culture – Rene Baptiste headed the delegation to the launch. The delegation included Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Culture – Angella Taylor, and Marketing Officers – Hyacinth Phillips and Jacqui English.{{more}}
President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Hotel and Tourism Association – Leroy Lewis headed a delegation from the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Hotel and Tourism Association. The Vincentian delegation also included Miss Teen Easterval 2005 – Urane Delplesche.
The regional marketing campaign was launched in 2002 in Trinidad and Tobago, and was expanded to Barbados, St. Lucia and Grenada in 2003. The Launch of the Trinidad, Barbados, St. Lucia campaigns for 2005 took place during the first quarter of 2005.
Over the last four years, this country has seen significant increases in visitor arrivals from the Caribbean, particularly from the countries where the campaign is ongoing.
Preliminary figures for 2004 show increases over the 2003 arrivals with a 13.1% increase from Barbados, 18.9% from Grenada, 21.2% from St. Lucia and 5.6% from Trinidad and Tobago.
The campaigns take the form of official launches and trade shows, and are sustained over the year by print and electronic ads and features, posters, brochures, billboard advertising and giveaways.
The 2005 campaign slogan is “Experience a Difference Caribbean”.
