Caribbean Week 2005
The Annual Caribbean Week activities organized by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation in New York took place from 29th May to 4th June, 2005.
This country’s delegation to the week-long event included the Minister of Tourism – Rene Baptiste, Permanent Secretary – Andreas Wickham, Director of Tourism – Vida Bernard and Sales Representatives in the St. Vincent and the Grenadines New York Office – Celia Ross and Eleen Ackie. {{more}}They were accompanied by two Vincentian artistes – reigning Soca Monarch and Road March King – Bomani and Panist – Ken Isles, who showcased their talent at the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s Caribbean Fair & “Do it Caribbean” Wedding, which took place at the South Street Seaport Pier 16 in Manhattan, New York.
During Caribbean Week, each CTO member country is provided with the opportunity to meet and interact with key tourism partners in the Market Place, as well as to have an input into the discussions relating to the management of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation and its programme of activities.
Minister of Tourism and Culture, Rene Baptiste also addressed the New York-based Caribbean Nationals at a town hall meeting which aimed to provide the latest details of tourism efforts and offerings. Other events at the 2005 Caribbean Week included the Caribbean Media Marketplace, Caribbean Marketing Workshop and Luncheon, the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s Press Conference and the 32nd Annual Governments of the Caribbean State Ball. During the week, there were also Ministers of Tourism and Directors of Tourism Meetings, as well as meetings with private sector representatives.
