LIME Port Police Carollers top up

The appreciative crowd that gathered at the Chamber of Commerce Car Park last Saturday, December 13, seemed to be in full agreement with Commissioner of Police Keith Miller as they enjoyed themselves at the event.

Everyone was laughing, so stress and anger were certainly absent, and the seven choirs that participated were good-and those who weren’t too good were definitely funny!

When the barrels were cleared, it was the LIME Port Police Carollers that copped the title and walked away with their $500 first prize, followed by Western Carollers and Combined Carollers.

The LIME Port Police Carollers also walked away with the best traditional Christmas song prize for their rendition of Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, and the best original composition and best speech prizes went to Combined Carollers and the Gonsalves Liquor RSD Carollers, respectively.

Karib Kable Traffic Angels, Auxiliary Carollers and Cadets Carollers also competed.

As is customary, the Police Band was impressive, and there were also performances by two new steel bands, the products of government’s Pan Against Crime initiative.

The youths that made up the two orchestras of the recently commissioned initiative, Largo Height Community Development Steel Orchestra and the Symphonix Steel Orchestra, gave a wonderful account of themselves.

Patrons were also tickled off their chairs by the performance of the Police Drama Club. (KJ)
