The FOUNDATION of Make-up

Tue, Mar 03, 2015

Foundation is an absolute must have for flawless make-up application. To cover blemishes and slightly alter your skin tone so that it looks perfectly even, choosing the most suitable foundation is extremely important, so take into consideration the guide to buying foundation below:

1. ALWAYS TRY BEFORE YOU BUY

It is safer to try on foundation rather than judging the colour/shade by the way it looks in the bottle. Additionally, test the make-up by applying small strokes of it on your cheeks.{{more}} Once you find the perfect match, with the use of a mirror, step outside to see how the make-up looks in natural light. The perfect foundation will blend seamlessly into your skin. You should look as if you are not wearing any make-up at all.

2. CONSIDER YOUR SKIN TYPE

Different foundations are formulated for different skin types. If you have oily/acne prone skin the best way to control the shine is by avoiding oil-based foundations.

For dry skin, moisturizing cream and or liquid foundations are the perfect options. They are also beneficial to dry skin, as they provide moisture while giving you flawless coverage.

For my ladies with sensitive skin, try a mineral based powder. Dermatologists also recommend this type of foundation because it’s chemical free and less irritating to the skin.

Aging skin requires a water-based foundation to make fine lines and wrinkles less visible. Stay away from powder foundations, as they only settle between your fine lines and wrinkles, thus making them more obvious.

3. THE PRICE

While I would not discourage you from buying affordable foundation, I will let you know that good make-up is a worthwhile investment, so don’t be afraid to cough up those funds!
